Common questions
Frequently asked questions
What does warehouse manual handling training cover?
Practical manual handling training for warehouse, logistics and distribution staff covers safe lifting and lowering, team-handling protocols, pallet and load assessment, trolley and roll-cage technique, push-pull biomechanics, and the use of mechanical aids. It is delivered by instructors with the relevant QQI Level 6 instructor qualification and includes an employee completion certificate.
How often does manual handling training need refreshing?
The HSA says there is no set legal requirement, but recommends refresher training at intervals of not more than three years and sooner when work practices, handling systems or equipment change. The employer should also use the risk assessment, supervision and observed competence to decide the scope and timing, while following any additional sector or company policy.
Do you do ergonomic assessments for picking and packing roles?
Yes. Ergonomic assessments for picking, packing, processing, line and dock roles look at biomechanical load, repetition, posture, reach, and how the workstation or process design contributes to musculoskeletal risk. We can deliver assessments for specific high-risk individuals (return-to-work, reported pain) or as a programmatic audit of a department or shift.
Can you train across multiple shifts?
Yes — we routinely deliver training across day, late and night shifts so the whole workforce is covered without disrupting operations. Tell us your shift pattern and we will quote accordingly.
What about return-to-work after a lifting injury?
A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) assesses the worker's physical capacity against the demands of their role and provides objective documentation for return-to-work and accommodation decisions. Useful where occupational health has flagged uncertainty, where insurance is involved, or where pre-employment screening for physically demanding roles is needed.
How quickly can you respond?
Quotes typically come back within 4 working hours from our Galway or Dublin office. Available training dates depend on your location, shift pattern, group size and instructor availability.
