Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What does manufacturing line ergonomic assessment cover?

Line ergonomic assessment looks at workstation height, reach, repetition, force, posture, vibration exposure, rotation between tasks, and the cumulative musculoskeletal load on operators across a shift. It produces specific, actionable recommendations for engineering controls (jigs, fixtures, lift assists), administrative controls (rotation, break patterns) and PPE.

Is manual handling training mandatory in manufacturing?

Irish manual handling rules require employers first to avoid hazardous manual handling where possible, then assess and reduce remaining risk. Employees exposed to relevant risks need adequate, task-specific information and training. Usafety delivers practical employee training onsite through instructors with the relevant QQI Level 6 instructor qualification.

Can you assess pharmaceutical and laboratory ergonomics?

Yes. Cleanroom, lab and pharmaceutical-production environments can involve specific ergonomic considerations, including gowning, repetitive pipetting and small-instrument work, microscope and analyser posture, glovebox reach, and prolonged standing. We agree the assessor, scope and relevant tasks before work starts.

How quickly can you respond to a manufacturing tender?

Quotes typically come back within 4 working hours from our Galway or Dublin office. For larger formal RFPs, we typically respond within the tender deadline with a fully scoped proposal.

Do you serve pharmaceutical sites under contractor onboarding?

Yes. Many of our pharmaceutical and medical-device clients require contractor inductions, vendor pre-qualification (Avetta, Achilles, etc.), insurance evidence and method statements. We are familiar with these workflows and can provide everything required.

What about return-to-work for line-injury cases?

A Functional Capacity Evaluation provides objective documentation of physical capacity against role demands. Useful where occupational health, insurance or the worker themselves needs a structured assessment of fitness to return, including workplace accommodation recommendations.
