Single Supplier for the HSE Framework Manual Handling and People Handling Training
Official Supplier of Display Screen Assessments under Lot 8 of the Framework for Health and Safety Consultancy and Training
Usafety is the Irish specialist on workplace movement, handling and musculoskeletal risk in healthcare. We are appointed under the HSE Single-Supplier Framework for Manual and People Handling Training and under Lot 8 of the public-sector Framework for Specialist Ergonomic Assessments. Our centre of gravity since 1995 has been Irish healthcare — most of our work is delivered into hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, disability services and primary care. Programmes are clinically led by our specialist ergonomics team, including the Specialist Healthcare Ergonomist to the HSE.
Why specialist matters
Healthcare ergonomics is a clinical practice
Patient transfers, bariatric handling, hoist competence, clinical posture and screen-based reporting all sit in one risk picture. A horizontal H&S provider treats this as a course; we treat it as a clinical programme.
HSE Single-Supplier Framework provider
Manual and people handling training delivered under the HSE Single-Supplier Framework to healthcare bodies nationwide since 2010.
HSE Lot 8 Specialist Ergonomic Assessments
Official supplier of specialist ergonomic assessments to the HSE under Lot 8 of the public-sector framework.
Specialist Healthcare Ergonomist to the HSE
Our senior ergonomist is an IES-member ergonomist with 25+ years of healthcare practice. Every framework engagement runs through our specialist team in Stage 1.
Single integrated stack
Training, assessment, software and clinical sign-off on one provider relationship. No fragmented vendor stack to manage.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Why work with a healthcare-specialist provider for handling and ergonomics?
Healthcare ergonomics is a clinical practice, not a checklist. The risk picture in a hospital ward, nursing home, hospice or disability service differs fundamentally from an office or warehouse — patient transfers, bariatric handling, falls assistance, hoist competence, clinical posture, screen-based reporting and clinical equipment all sit in the same risk picture. A horizontal H&S provider treats this as one course; a specialist provider treats it as a programme.
What makes Usafety different in healthcare?
Usafety is the HSE Single-Supplier Framework holder for manual handling and people handling training, and the supplier of specialist ergonomic assessments to the HSE under Lot 8 of the Framework for Health and Safety Consultancy and Training. Our senior ergonomist is the Specialist Healthcare Ergonomist to the HSE. Since 1995 our centre of gravity has been Irish healthcare — most of our work is delivered into hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, disability services and primary care.
Which healthcare services do you serve?
HSE statutory services, voluntary hospital groups, private hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, residential and day-care disability services, Section 38 and Section 39 organisations, primary-care networks, community-care providers and laboratories. Our team scales from one-off assessments to multi-site framework programmes.
Do you work under the HSE Framework?
Yes. Usafety is appointed under two HSE frameworks: the Single-Supplier Framework for Manual & People Handling Training, and Lot 8 of the Framework for Health and Safety Consultancy and Training (Specialist Ergonomic Assessments). HSE bodies can draw down directly. We also serve healthcare organisations outside the framework on a direct-engagement basis.
How does the engagement work?
For ergonomic services: a Stage 1 telephone or virtual consultation is delivered by our senior ergonomist, followed by a Stage 2 onsite assessment by the assigned ergonomist or assessor, then a draft report for sign-off and a final report. For training: we agree dates, roster sizes, locations and equipment with you; instructors travel on site with all materials. We can be in-touch with a quotation within 4 working hours.
