When is a specialist ergonomic assessment appropriate?
A specialist ergonomic assessment may be appropriate for persistent or complex symptoms, non-screen work, return-to-work planning, task-specific demands or cases where a routine DSE assessment identifies the need for further specialist input.
How often should ergonomic assessments be done?
Irish DSE rules do not set a universal two-year expiry. The HSA says a further workstation analysis is required when an employee transfers to a new workstation or significant new equipment, a change of equipment or new technology is introduced. The wider workplace risk assessment must also be reviewed after a significant change or where there is reason to believe it is no longer valid.
