Frequently asked questions
Common questions about ergonomic assessments and DSE services in Ireland.
What is a DSE assessment?
A DSE (Display Screen Equipment) assessment evaluates your workstation setup to ensure it meets health and safety regulations. It covers monitor positioning, chair height, desk setup, lighting, and more. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, employers must provide DSE assessments for employees who regularly use display screen equipment.
How often should ergonomic assessments be done?
Ergonomic assessments should be conducted when an employee starts a new role, when workstation equipment changes, when an employee reports discomfort, or at least every 2 years as a general review. For DSE users, assessments are legally required under Irish regulations.
Do you offer remote workstation assessments?
Yes, we provide comprehensive remote workstation assessments for home workers and distributed teams. Employees complete a guided digital assessment, and our ergonomists review the results and provide personalized recommendations. This service is ideal for hybrid and fully remote work arrangements.
What is a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)?
A Functional Capacity Evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that measures an individual's physical abilities related to work tasks. It's often used for return-to-work planning, disability assessments, and determining workplace accommodations. Our qualified physiotherapists conduct FCEs at our Galway facility or on-site.
