Who should attend	Carers, Nurses, Porters, medical personnel directly and indirectly involved in the moving of patients.
Course Details	This course is both theoretical and practical in content. Theory includes Relevent legislation Ergonomics Risk assessment and solutions Anatomy and mechanisms of injury Fitness for task The 11 principles of lifting Information on clothing and appropriate footwear Maintenance of the workplace Co-operation of trained employees. Practical elements include Manual handling of inanimate loads Assisted walking Siting and standing a person Siting a person up in bed Moving a person from bed to other surface USe of lifting equipment - hoist, etc. Course tutors are highly experienced and will ensure class participation so that individual handling issues will be addressed.
